My favorite saying nowdays is "Truth is stranger than fiction"

Up until Q3 2005 Maverick was increasing thier holding in CRIS. Tried to recreate some data and uncovered that in Q2 2005 they actually increased their holding - Maverick Capital, Ltd. 3,446,107 7.15 231,500.

In Q3 2005 they sold 994,944 to get back under the 5 pct radar. As far as I can tell they were also very late in reporting this sell and may have amended their original filing. In Q4 they unloaded their entire position. Hard for me to believe that they did not know what was coming. We all know CRIS was range bound, there is no way they got enough appreciation to unload the way the did.

Fortunate among those that have reported Q4 2005 only 400,000 were picked by new/increasing buyers.

After over 2 years of rising institutional interest CRIS is now bound for several quarters of decline, Q1 2006 will probably be much worse than Q4 2005. The stock really performed pooly during that time so may be we'll be presently surprise during this reversal period. :o

This is what he wrote on the Yahoo board
"Looks like Citadel L P added nearly 900k shares in q4, so unless Lotsoff has sold out, it appears as though Curis will maintain a gain in Institutional Ownership for yet another quarter. "

I am still trying to find this filing so I can post a link. Despite everything we have seen, if CRIS comes out of Q4 2005 with a gain in I/O that bodes really well for a strong summer if the phase I data improves.

Well, Maverick selling out certainly didn't curtail Curis' gain in institutional ownership last quarter. Not showing up on the Nasdaq site are the following increases:

Lotsoff - approx. 400K shrs
Citadel - approx. 900K shrs
Stephens - approx. 1.7M shrs.

Add those into the total currently showing of 19.66M shares and Curis will have over 22M of its 49M total outstanding shares held by intitutions, about 45%.

Peterd,

So,can you sum up what you have found out about the institutional holders?

Is Maverick selling out a wash and/or will CRIS see a slight increase in holders since there have been a few buyers?

I'm not getting the implication of your 3 posts here.

I don't think anyone can guess what will happen within the next 6 months. There is way too much on the scale to weigh in....possible IND filings (one or two),BCC updates good or bad, in house programs...on and on.

Funds/institutions are spec buyers too. It's good to see them increase but they have just as much chance as being right/wrong at any given time.Don't bet the farm on institution #'s with any spec stock,IMO.

TIA

HH,

It doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot at this stage. Funds/instis have their own agendas and reasons to buy/sell companies. It is nice to see them be holders/buyers over sellers....but it's a game that the retail investor looks at more than funds ever worry about.

Funds buy/sell based partly on facts but not in all cases. They sometimes do things based on whos who (who they know, who they golf with, who they owe a favor to). It's not ethical like they'd like you to think.

JMO and based on some known facts
